Catastrophes remind us of our responsibility to support one another in times of need. Hurricanes Irma and Harvey are the two most recent events that remind us of that.
Fortunately, there are many ways to help. Many organizations have the infrastructure and support system to provide assistance for those in need. For instance, Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC), a non-profit group of volunteers from the IT community, provides free telecommunications support to survivors and emergency responders during the recovery period after a disaster. When word got out that they were urgently looking for networking gear to support their efforts in Houston, we knew we could help.
Within 24 hours of returning from the long Labor Day weekend, Ruckus engineers provisioned and hosted a Ruckus virtual SmartZone™ controller access points (APs) out of its corporate headquarters in Sunnyvale. They also configured over 130 Ruckus APs that can be connected and instantly deployed anywhere by engineers in the field.
We will be working directly with ITDRC over the coming weeks and months to support their ongoing efforts. We also encourage anyone interested in donating time, money or equipment to contact:
